GeoERA Information Platform Project
2018
The Information Platform project will address the development of a common geoscience information platform capable of integrating up-to-date data, interpretations and models from different and distributed sources, both within and across the three main geoscientific themes of GeoERA.

It is the overall aim of GeoERA to integrate information and knowledge to support sustainable use of the subsurface. The geoscientific projects (GSPs) on subsurface energy (Geo-energy Theme), water (Groundwater Theme) and raw material resources (Raw Materials Theme) will produce large amounts of geological data and information and the GeoERA Information Platform Project (GIP-P) will establish a common platform for organising, disseminating and sustaining the digital results of those projects. Theme coordinator for the Information Platform theme is Jørgen Tulstrup from the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS). Responsible for the Work Package 4 (WP4) adressing "Semantic harmoniation issues" is the Geological Survey of Austria (GBA) - with M. Schiegl as WP leader. WP4 is divided into 2 subject areas. Firstly, in the creation of a keyword thesaurus for the multilingual semantic search of project results in a spatial data catalogue, and second in the construction of "Project Vocabularies" (project vocabularies). These "Project Vocabularies" are designed to give the possibility to create a common clear, sustainable terminology within the project and to support the semantic harmonisation of the data itself.
